At 12:01 am on October 1, 2025, the federal government entered a shutdown.
According the USDA's Lapse of Funding Plan there should be no immediate impact on school meal funding or operations. Funding is available for meals served in September and October, and key staff will be excepted from furlough to support operations.
HCPS Dept of Food and Nutrition Services will continue serving meals. We will continue to assess the potential impacts and monitor guidance from the USDA, MSDE and the School Nutrition Association.
